I was has been covering cosplay for well over a decadeand in that time i have seen tons of books, posts, youtube videos and even tv series on the subject. What I hadn’t seen until now was that someone actually went and made one Documentary as smooth and comprehensive as cosplay universe.

The award-winning documentary, Cosplay Universe, gives viewers a glimpse into the ever-growing and evolving world of cosplay. What began in Japan as a subculture shaped by a shared love of anime and the characters that emerged from it has now grown into a global phenomenon, encompassing characters from media across the globe.
On the surface, this relatively new type of activity may look like playing dress-up, but there is so much more to cosplay. This kind of “dressing up” encourages self-expression in an inspiring and rather rare way. It gives people a way to discover parts of their identity that may have been hidden before. I sat down and checked it out recently and loved it! The whole thing is just real Serious; Fueled by interviews with cosplayers big and small, it never feels like it’s overdoing it or going too far. It’s just a fun, honest look at cosplay and people’s passion for it.
