The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro have already hit the market, but that only means we can already think of Google’s next mobiles; and everything indicates that the company wants to expand, with the launch of new models like the future Pixel 7 Mini.

The Pixel 7 Ultra would fit into this strategy, covering the premium range which is currently somewhat out of Google’s reach. The Pixel 7 Pro is a very competent model, but Google would like to go further.
Pixel 7 Ultra appears in Pixel Code
Now, leak expert Kuba Wojciechowski has released evidence that Google is indeed preparing to launch an “Ultra” model to complete the lineup. The code name it uses during development is “Lynx”, and references can be found in Google’s source code for the Pixel 7.
It is thanks to this that we can already know some of the technical characteristics of the new mobile, such as the fact that it will not have one, but two cameras with a Sony IMX712 sensor; one of them would have a wide-angle lens, so the quality of the images would not change no matter what type of photo we take.

Another more technical detail is that Lynx will support a new modem, the Qualcomm WCN6740. What seems like a minor detail may actually have performance implications. With the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7, Google relied on Samsung’s Exynos modems, thanks to the Tensor development collaboration. With the Ultra, Google would take another route, with the intention of improving coverage and transfer speed in 5G.
What will not change from the current models is the screen controller, which will be the same as on the Pixel 6, 6a and 7. But this only indicates that, at most, the mobile will support a 1080p resolution with 120.fps refresh rate; although there are voices that say that may mean the screen wouldn’t be bigger.
This isn’t the first time rumors of a Pixel 7 Ultra and that mysterious “Lynx” have surfaced. Already last August there was talk of a similar device, which would bet on high quality materials such as a ceramic chassis.
