Scary movies and series on Apple TV Plus this Halloween

The horror genre is one of the most popular categories of all time, but even more so now that Halloween is right around the corner. We are not surprised that you want to immerse yourself in this festivity and that for this you organize a good horror movie marathon to watch alone or with others.

If you have an Apple TV Plus subscription and are also looking for a scary movie to watch, you’ve come to the right place. Next, we are going to tell you which scary movies (or series) you can see on this platform.

The first thing we have to tell you is that there are no scary movies on Apple TV Plus. As you well know, Apple’s streaming platform only includes original films produced by Apple, which makes its catalog much smaller than that of other platforms such as Netflix or HBO Max.

However, before fleeing to another platform, Apple TV Plus offers three horror series which are really worth it. Servant, a series that has an excellent rating on IMDb, the story of Lisley, based on a novel by Stephen King and Calls, a very innovative series to be built on the audio of several calls.

It’s also true that the fact that the library of titles is smaller is reflected in the price: Apple TV plus costs just $4.99.

Here we tell you more about these three horror series that you will surely enjoy watching this Halloween on Apple TV+.

Scary Series on Apple TV+

1. Servant

  • Year: 2019
  • Director/a: Tony Basgallop
  • Department: Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, Nell Tiger Free
  • Note and IMDb: 7.5/10
  • Seasons: 3

The trailer already promises: we see very good image quality, a very personal style and a scary doll/baby. We are facing a series of three seasons, a fourth of which will begin in 2023.

Servant brings us closer to the lives of a married couple, Dorothy and Sean, and their newborn baby. They will hire Leanne as a nanny to help take care of their baby. So far quite normal, isn’t it?

Well no. The couple’s son died when he was only thirteen weeks old and Dorothy, who is suffering from a psychotic breakdown, undergoes “object therapy” whereby they use a doll that replaces this dead baby. So, Leanne will be hired to take care of this supposed doll and not a real baby, or maybe not?

2. Lisey’s Story

  • Year: 2021
  • Director: Pablo Larraín (created by Stephen King)
  • Actors: Julianne Moore, Clive Owen,
  • Note and IMDb: 5.8/10
  • Mini-series: 8 episodes

The protagonist of this series, based on the homonymous novel by Stephen King, lost her husband, a famous novelist, two years ago. Her husband left her a lot: novels, but also a lot of blood.

The young widow will enter the lair where her husband used to write, an idyllic place by day, but terrifying by night. It will remind you that your marriage was never perfect, it will bring back memories that, surely, for safety, you had tried to forget.

3. Appeals

  • Year: 2021
  • Director: Fede Alvarez
  • Actors: Clancy Brown, Aubrey Plaza, Nikka Futerman
  • Note and IMDb: 7.7/10
  • Seasons: 1

Calls is a different series, we assure you that you have never seen anything like it. The series offers us nine chapters, with nine terrifying stories that tell you chilling events only through audio and abstract images.

You’ll actually be listening to this series through phone calls that initially seem unrelated, but later show an ugly connection.
