It’s been almost ten years since The Sims 4, and most fans haven’t gotten tired of sim games.During this period Behind the Sims Summit On October 18, the game is free to play on all platforms. The Sims 4 is getting its fair share of free weekend or “origin free” deals right now, but that seems to be a feature of the game.
However, developer Maxis didn’t leave us that much. They also revealed what’s next for the series and gave fans a brief look at Project Rene; what’s next in the Sims universe. The Rene program is still a few years away, so in the meantime, Maxis is placating the masses by finally making The Sims 4 free to play.
So, now that The Sims 4 is free, how are you going to claim it? Do you have to install it via Origin? Fortunately for you, this time there is no such requirement.
You can just hop into the Steam, Origin or EA app and search for The Sims 4. Then you can install it without any problems. If you happen to be playing on a console, you can simply log into the store of your choice and install it from there. No fancy claiming rituals or specific launchers required. It’s that simple.
It’s also worth noting that if you happen to have the game installed via EA Play, you can install The Sims 4 EA Play Edition specifically. This version of the game includes the free Get to Work extension! As for the rest of the expansions, packs, and kits, you’ll want to save money or become a pirate because there are so many of them, and unfortunately none of these are free to play.
That said, there’s still a lot to go on in The Sims 4 without the need for expansion packs. Although, if you think about anything, Cats & Dogs are clearly great, and Seasons is another personal favorite; it’s surprisingly pleasant to see winter in The Sims.
