In today’s Silent Hill transmission, we not only saw the reveal of Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill Town Falls, and Silent Hill F. We also know the reveal of a new movie, Return to Silent Hill, and some more unusual packaging… Silent Hill: Ascension.

Catch up on all of today’s Silent Hill reveal here.

This is perhaps the most exciting moment we’ve had with PT, the playable trailer for Silent Hill. This will be Hideo Kojima’s take on the series, and given the demo, people are very ready for Silent Hill to scare them silly again. That said, Silent Hill hasn’t seen the light of day, and PT remains a mystery.

It’s been several years since we heard about Silent Hill, so it’s great to see the series try to return in full force in multiple mediums.

Silent Hill: Ascension was teased during the transmission and looked like some kind of live event for fans of the franchise. In the trailer, we see some messages discussing whether they can save “her,” or suggesting someone run away. This leads everyone to believe that this will be some kind of interactive community stream.

Ascension has also been revealed to be created in partnership with JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot Games, Dead by Daylight developer Behavior Interactive, streaming software specialist Genvid and dj2 Entertainment, which specializes in adapting games for television.

It then discusses how Silent Hill: Ascension was inspired by the streamers that played Silent Hill live, frightening along with the audience. Ascension will be a live event, a series, and it looks like those who watch will decide how everything folds.

Lastly, we’re reminded that there’s no reset button in Ascension, and that’s going to be up to those watching “The Classic That Shaped Silent Hill Forever”. It’s certainly an interesting concept for the Silent Hill universe, and I can’t wait to get involved, but hopefully it’s not just a bloody version of Black Mirror’s Bandersnatch.
