Google finally has its first “official” Wear OS watch, and how could it be otherwise, it has caused some controversy. We know that the Pixel Watch will be a very important device for the future of the company, as Google will focus on hardware and its own platform compared to the rest of the Android market.

The Pixel Watch is the equivalent of the Apple Watch, in that it’s designed to work with Pixel phones and the Google platform. And like Apple Watches, its design also plays a big role, featuring a striking round look with a glass dome.
The Pixel Watch problem
But it is precisely this design that can lead to problems in the long term, and even in the short term if we are not careful. For starters, the glass dome that houses the screen may be too flimsy, as early adopters have already discovered; not in Europe, since the Pixel Watch is not available in our country.
But the real problem can come after breaking the clock. As iFixit discovered, the internal design of the Pixel Watch has advantages and disadvantages when it comes to fixing the device.
The most striking, without a doubt, is that to change the screen of the Pixel Watch, you must first remove the battery. Indeed, the screen connector passes under the battery of the motherboard with the processor, so it is impossible to remove it without dismantling a large part of the device.
This is important because it implies two things: first, that repairing the Pixel Watch will be more difficult than necessary, and therefore may be more expensive. Second, changing the screen will likely mean changing the battery as well, which will increase the cost. In any case, it’s not a device designed to be repaired, although that’s not all bad news.
For example, there are details where the Pixel Watch showed a higher level of repairability than other watches, such as the bottom part with the sensors, which is easily replaceable and uses an easy-to-remove type of adhesive.
