Dead Matter has long struggled with problems, albeit largely under wraps. The survival hope has raised millions of dollars via crowdfunding since 2017. The promise of a gigantic open-world survival game with lots of freedom struck a chord with many players willing to pay.
Since then, however, only an early alpha version has become available to backers. After a drama about the key assignment, the first players made some devastating judgments. Despite the confidentiality agreement, reports of a rudimentary development status and numerous missing elements came to light. Doubts were raised as to whether the developer Quantum Integrity was even up to its own vision.
Now the team is reaching out to the community in a new vlog. A release on Steam in Early Access is imminent. And we have learned from past mistakes, which is why the game should now be launched in a greatly reduced size.

The developers of Quantum Integrity Software explain that a lot has changed at the company since the alpha release. So you have recruited new employees who should bring a lot of industry experience. A continuous production pipeline with regular updates – that is the self-declared goal.

Dead Matter moves to the Unreal Engine 5. In addition to more realistic zombie models by Metahumans, the lighting technology Lumen should ensure a prettier Canadian post-apocalypse.
A better system for loot is also intended to promote immersion and create a sense of reward. In Dead Matter, specific loot should spawn in certain areas. For example, doctor’s clothing in hospitals, as is also common with the big role model DayZ. In the later course of the game, the hunt for better loot in dangerous areas should provide motivation.
