Create your character, fighting style and more in Stray Blade
The rise of games that resemble the From Software saga is indisputable. There is not a month that does not come out of another like soulsor games that essentially maintain that spirit of combat challenge that everyone has fallen in love with. It’s getting harder and harder to innovate in this genre, and Stray Blade is trying with various features that we have been able to observe and test in the offices of 505 Games.
Point Blank Games are the studio in charge of developing this project. Although the style is very colorful, almost cartoonish, the truth is that we face a challenge in its own right. As in any game of this nature, you will have to measure times and distances in combat. Knowing when to attack, how to defend and read the opponent’s movements so as not to end up dead will be our bread in every game. Come on, what are we doing at all like souls…although here we find exceptions that make Stray Blade a different adventure.
The definitive artisan souls
While in other games we find weapons in the different rooms and steal them from the final enemies, here we are faced with something different. Everything works on the basis of craftsmanship, and although it may seem boring to collect materials to create new weapons or equipment, the truth is that it is something that works very naturally.
As we go on, we will be able to obtain a series of sketches to design the utensil in question. Well, it won’t be tedious to explore the environment while destroying all the raw materials we need. I guess at first it will be affordable to be able to build whatever we want, although as we acquire more complex sketches we will have to opt for the development of one object or another. Or at least those are my speculations that seem reasonable, and they’re not the only ones…
customize big
Stray Blade will feature a huge skill tree. Seriously, it’s very big. This makes us think that we will be able to customize our hero in the way that best suits our style of play, adapting our mechanics to his actions. With it all crafteo commented, I’m sure We will see completely different custom characters depending on the style of each player. During the testing period, I didn’t have time to test many weapons, but each of them behaves differently in terms of range, damage and versatility. And all this greatly enriches the title, increasing the replayability a lot if we want to complete it in different ways of fighting style.
Acrea has a lot of branching
Although it is visually too early to make an assessment, I still have a few details that I found very interesting. The first is that there are different very different places, each with a particular style which gives a lot of power to Acrea, the world where the adventure takes place. The second (and I love it) is that there is a metroidvania part in their playable schemes. You know, in order to access certain sites, we must first have a specific power. I found a boulder blocking the way, and until I have Stray Blade in my hands, I won’t stop thinking about that block.
Stray Blade still has a lot to learn, and during these months we will see more content about the game. Its launch is scheduled for early 2023, and we have to enjoy its combat for many hours, delve into its crafting and customization features to make a proper judgment. We even need to know more about Boji, the curious creature that brings us back to life every time we bite the dust. For now, we’ll have the title on our radar, and we’ll be sure to keep reporting when we learn more about the game.
