Apple iPhone 14 (128 GB) – Blue
-
Filter: We start with one of the most important points. Both devices have the same screen size, but there’s one feature where Samsung beats Apple: the high dynamic refresh rate up to 120Hz. This feature is reserved by Apple for its Pro models from the iPhone 13 Pro/Max. In the Android sector, it is even found in much cheaper terminals, so it is difficult to justify that a mobile that exceeds a thousand dollars does not have it, as is the case with the iPhone 14 .
-
Processor: iPhone 14 retains the A15 Bionic chip that we saw in the previous generation, while Samsung is betting on the Spanish market with the Exynos 2200. This is one of the main complaints from users, since in other territories the Samsung Galaxy S22 integrates the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Qualcomm’s best, and you tend to have a better experience with it than with the South Koreans.
-
Operating system: iOS versus Android. a matter of taste. There are users who prefer the Apple system and others the one developed by Google. While it is true that if we have more Apple devices, with the iPhone we will have greater integration and ease in certain things. It’s also true that iOS offers several years of updates (although older devices don’t get as many new features/features anymore), but Apple doesn’t offer a clear timeline. For its part, Samsung promises four “fat” system updates (up to Android 16), and security updates for five years, which is much better than a few years ago.
-
cameras: Samsung offers a triple rear camera system with 50 MP main sensor and video recording in 8K at 24 fps. The iPhone 14 offers a 12 MP dual rear camera. On the front there is a positive point for the Apple smartphone, since it integrates the security system based on Face ID facial recognition, one of the best mobile devices.
-
Drums: the battery of the Samsung Galaxy S22 has a little more capacity than that of the iPhone 14 (3700 mAh VS 3279 mAh), but the Samsung smartphone promises up to 19 hours of video playback and the Apple smartphone, up to 20 hours of video playback via the Apple TV app
-
Others: both devices can connect to 5G and Wi-Fi 6 phone networks, accept mobile payments via Apple Pay (iPhone) and Samsung Pay/Google Pay (Galaxy S22). But a feature that often goes unnoticed and is very interesting in the case of Samsung’s high-end smartphones is Samsung DeX, a function that allows you to connect your mobile to a monitor or TV and turn it into a kind of Windows computer, since it has an interesting window manager and allows you to work with a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard.
-
Price: if you want iOS yes or yes you have to jump through hoops and pay what Apple charges to have the latest iPhone, but those of Cupertino have crossed a dangerous barrier for the most economical model of the range: the thousand dollars. Samsung’s proposal starts from less, about 160 dollars cheaper, and Samsung mobiles, over time, tend to become cheaper and come at an attractive price. The iPhone 14 starts from 1,009 dollars and the Samsung Galaxy S22 from 849 dollars.
iPhone 14 or Samsung Galaxy S22, which one to buy?
When it comes to buying an Android smartphone or an iPhone, The answer is not easy: The comparison is difficult because it is assumed that each device has a different operating system, and you may like one more than another. What’s clear is that if you want iOS, you have to jump through Apple’s hoop and pay what it asks.
However, the iPhone 14 is a complicated terminal: Very similar to the iPhone 13 and with a significant price increase. In performance, it is difficult to find a rival because Apple’s hardware and software binomial works wonderfully, but it has significant shortcomings, and a very glaring one is that the screen is limited to 60 Hz, something incomprehensible for a terminal its price and range.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 is also not a perfect mobile. The battery isn’t as well optimized and the performance isn’t as good as it should be considering this is a high-end smartphone. For the rest, both are good options and the determining factor is whether you like Android better or prefer Google’s system.
