Valve has said it is still struggling to meet the demand for its Index headphones, but "the number will be greatly reduced" due to the coronavirus crisis.
According to the statement provided to Upload VR, the coronavirus has affected the production schedule of the product Valve index. As a result, fewer units will be available in the coming months than originally planned.
Valve says that while it is “working hard to maximize availability”, to track inventory, you can visit the Steam page of the headset and click “Notify Me”.
Half-Life: Alyx was released in November 2019. After the announcement, an estimated 103,000 VR headsets were sold. The sector will face global shortages in the coming weeks and 2020.
Half-Life: Alyx is compatible with other VR headsets, so if you have other headsets available, you can use it at any time until more Index units are available.
Since the production of Switch components has stopped in China, the virus not only affected Index, but also caused the delay of the Switch.
Coronavirus also led to the cancellation of the Taipei Game Show (Taipei Game Show) in Berlin in April and led Sony to withdraw from Pax East and GDC this year.
