Who is Makarov?
In the final scene of the campaign, CIA agent Kate Laswell and Task Force 141 sit at a bar. Laswell reports to Captain Price that the Russians
would work with someone new and shows the soldiers a photo of the person. They immediately recognize him as Vladimir Makarov.
This is the leader of a Russian nationalist terrorist cell and a recurring antagonist in the Modern Warfare series. He is first mentioned in 2007’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
Makarov is considered a skillful strategist and ruthless opponent who knows no mercy and will literally stop at nothing to achieve his goals. He is responsible for several acts of terrorism with many fatalities in the history of Call of Duty.
What does the post-credit scene mean?
Those who patiently wait for the credits will also be rewarded with an additional scene after the end of the campaign. If you missed them but don’t want to start the game again, you can check them out here:

Here we see an unknown man sitting on an airplane and assembling a weapon from several parts hidden in his clothing and luggage. He ends up giving a cell phone contact a name M
to understand that he is ready. He then replies No Russian
.
Of course, after the scene in the bar, it’s pretty obvious that the contact is Makarov. The answer, No Russian
also points to one of the most controversial and well-known missions in CoD.

Call of Duty: The most controversial moments of the CoD series
This is part of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) and has the same name as the SMS reply in the short scene, No Russian
. Here, Makarov and his terrorist cell carry out an attack on a Russian airport and shoot numerous defenseless civilians. As a covert CIA agent, the players themselves have to take up arms.
Makarov then ensures that the attack is blamed on the US. That’s why he reminds his group beforehand not to speak Russian, which is where the mission’s name comes from. The plan succeeds, and war erupts between Russia and the United States.
The airport mission could also play a role in Modern Warfare 2, as rumors suggest that a sequel to the campaign could be released as DLC.
What else is there to know?
If you’re not ready to jump straight into multiplayer after the campaign, there’s good news for you. Because with the Spec Ops mode, there are also pure co-op missions that you can tackle with your friends right at the launch on October 28th:
