A couple of very promising space horror video games are coming up in the coming months, like the Dead Space remake and The Callisto Protocol. The last of them will arrive first in stores and its creator wanted to talk about it, Glen Schofieldin an interview granted to the portal Inverse.
In his statements, he stated that the key to making a good horror game is to offer an excellent sound section, so that the player must feel that every little sound, no matter how insignificant, can be something that is going for him. This ensures that the atmosphere fully captures it as long as the sound works perfectly.
That is what we can feel in many moments in The Callisto Protocol. In fact, Schofield admits that he wants the players to feel that there is no hope in space and that there is a chance that they will not escape with their lives from the area where the action takes place.
On the other hand, last month the game director indicated that there were many stories to tell and some of them we would see in the form of expansions or other products. However, Schofield has wanted to go even further and has ensured that would love to do a sequelnoting that there are many great ideas in the air and he would love to do something great.
Likewise, he took advantage of the interview to speak again about his controversial message in which he commented that the members of the team worked for 6-7 days a week with little rest, which could be perfectly defined as un crunch. However, she later regretted that message and wanted to apologize for his words, as he has done again:
The truth is that I was wrong. We are a small team and we did well throughout development, but in the end I messed up and worked harder than we should have. It completely left us. The backlash from social media was very educational and I hope it will be a catalyst for change in general. I’ll make sure that doesn’t happen again on our next project or any project in the future.
Schofield took time to dedicate a few words to the remake of Dead Space, admitting that he would never have developed it. Although he is happy for the Motive team, in his case he prefers to do something totally new and let Dead Space in the past. As to The Callisto Protocolits release is set for December 2 en PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series y PC.
