in the bayonet 3, finding broken moon beads will improve your magic. Once you collect four of these, they will automatically transform into a Full Moon Pearl, which you can use on both Bayonetta and Viola throughout the story in the Skills menu. While Rodin’s shop has a few of these available for purchase, most are scattered throughout the levels. Here you will find them.
Keep in mind that this guide is a work in progress; For now we’ve covered up Chapter 7, which should give you plenty of magic to work with for both Bayonetta and Viola.
Chapter 1
In Shibuya, take one of the side streets (the one where you can see a broken bus and some soldiers on the ground) to find the Blow kisses to them! Study. Approach the enemies and wait for them to attack you. Dodge briefly before they hit Bayonetta to activate Witch Time. During witch time, LZ summon your demon and press R to blow him a kiss. In my experience the demon blew two kisses which both affected and while they were still stunned she sent another one ending the challenge. The reward is a broken moon pearl.
Chapter 2
After verse 1, look to the buildings on the left – one of them has a sign that says DFH (you’ll unlock a betwitchment if you stare at it for a few seconds). There is a billboard right next to it. Go to this spot with the spider and go under the roof there to find a trial. This one is pretty easy. There is a place that replenishes your magic. Stand on it, then summon the spider and start spamming bombs. Once you have a few crawling on enemies, web them all (by pressing R). You must repeat this a total of eight times to complete the exam. You can also do it the other way around, but this order will save you some time. Once you’re done, you’ll get a broken moon bead.
Chapter 3
As you make your way through the debris in the starting area, you’ll see a floating chest flying in circles. You can either use your summon, use air attacks, or just shoot it until it’s destroyed. Inside you will find a broken moon pearl.
The second in this chapter requires you to complete a trial encounter. You’ll find it at the top of the roof to the left of the entrance to the torii gate you’ll encounter after climbing up. The trick here is to rank combo points. It’s difficult to get the required 5,000, but I recommend summoning a demon, dealing as much damage as possible with various attacks, and when you run out of magic switch back to Bayonetta and shoot her pistols. Be careful not to get hit; Witch Time is in your favor here, and you can use the Demon once you’re able to to keep up with the combo. Once you’re done, the Broken Moon Pearl will be yours.
Chapter 4
After completing verse 1 and going to the second island, just before you encounter the large locked door, you’ll see a checkpoint altar on the right and behind it a waterfall. Follow the path to the right and turn the corner to find the key. From there, go down to the waterfall and you will find the door in the inner cave. Inside is a chest.
After verse 2, before entering the inner chamber, detour to the left side using the platforms around the corner to get to the other end, then jump onto the structure above. You will come across a chest that activates a time-based puzzle. This one is pretty easy: just use the spider to crawl around the wall and grab all five orbs.
When you go through the bridge after verse 4 where the soldiers are cheering for you, go to the first building on the left you see (there is first one on the right and then a second one on the left). Go to the roof at the other end and destroy the chest to activate a timed event. Honestly, 30 seconds is a lot of time for this one, so I used the spider form to swing around and grab all five pieces without much trouble. Once you’re done, you’ll get another Broken Moon Pearl for yourself.
Chapter 5
After verse 1 in the same area, go right to find a test. You have to defeat a few enemies here that can only be hurt during witch time. So, yes, get ready to parry. I recommend parrying before being attacked to get the increased witch time. Either go to Ham with combos or summon Cheshire – up to you. When you’re done, the Broken Moon Pearl is all yours.
After verse 8, you’ll find a chest on the opposite side of Rodin’s charging station. Destroy it to activate a timed event. This one is straightforward; Just make sure to use the double jump and your grappling hook to move towards the building faster. You’ll get a Broken Moon Pearl for your troubles.
Chapter 6
After verse 4 you will come across Rodin’s shop a long way down. Using this as a reference, go all the way back and turn sideways to find some stairs – there’s a trial waiting for you there. The key here is to continue the combo, so it shouldn’t be too hard. Use summons and keep an eye on upcoming attacks so you can dodge in time. Once you’re done, the Broken Moon Pearl will be yours.
Don’t leave the area yet! There’s another path next to the one you’re standing on with two chests. The first one, shaped like a triangle on the ground, gives you unlimited energy while standing there. Summon one of your demons and destroy the floating chest from this spot. This gives you another Broken Moon Pearl for a Full Moon Pearl.
Chapter 7
time to try. If you continue to the level after verse 1, you will find a trial on a plateau and right in front of a waterfall with a locked door. The challenge here asks you to rack up 5,000 combo points against a single enemy. It’s a bit tricky, but here’s what worked for me: use ranged attacks when the enemy is far away. Prepare to parry as soon as it attacks Viola. This gives you the ability to summon Cheshire, which can deal a ton of damage and help you with your score. Repeat this a few times, and whenever you can, get in touch with a few melee attacks. Just be careful not to get hit or the counter will drop to zero. And again, when in doubt, use ranged attacks. Your reward will be a broken moon pearl.
There is another Broken Moon Pearl if you follow the trail behind the falls in the desert section that has the huge sand river. Before you go there, take a quick detour to the right and go behind the falls. After you get past the first one, keep going to the other end and hop all the way up to the path that leads to a trial in the left corner – you’ll know it’s the right spot because an enemy will appear becomes the sand. From there, look to the opposite side: see that tower? Run to the ledge, jump and hold it until it turns into the grappling hook, swing yourself and then jump again to land on the roof. Destroy the chest to get the second broken moon pearl.
After making it through the quicksand, when you cross the paths with the two pillars with a staircase in between, take a detour to the left to this solitary tower. When using the ledges against the mountain, just double jump/swing to the other end to find a chest with a Broken Moon Pearl inside.
