SEGA’s Sonic brand is currently quite busy. The new Sonic Frontier will be released in a few days, the more recent cinematic adaptations are successful and now there is also a series on Netflix – and there is now a new teaser for it.
Netflix has been working on an animated series about the successful Sonic the Hedgehog brand for a long time – and this is now getting closer and closer to its launch date. After all, the piece baptized “Sonic Prime” should already be available on December 15, 2022 on the streaming service.
In this series, the blue hedgehog Sonic ends up in a multiverse of new worlds called the Shatterverse. In this respect, the makers basically promise “the Sonic that you know and love” – but with a multidimensional twist. Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, Shadow, Rouge the Bat and Big the Cat are all there too, but this time in strange new locations that are also very dark.
The locations are the result of an event unleashed by villain Eggman that shook the universe to its foundations. This takes Sonic to an alternate dimension and the future fate of the universe and his friends is in his hands.
Leaked artwork had previously revealed that Sonic will explore several different worlds throughout the season, due to different versions of Eggman/Dr. Robotnik meets. There will be a total of 24 episodes in the Netflix show. You can watch the new teaser clip below.
