For a long time nothing has been heard about the planned film adaptation of Metal Gear Solid, actor Oscar Isaac wishes the realization.
A Metal Gear Solid film has been in the planning for many years. After Oscar Isaac was signed as the main actor in 2020, nothing was heard for a long time. Now the actor gave a little hint about the project.
“We want it to happen,” he told ComicBook.com. “Be curious. what is the script What’s the story? How is the implementation? […] But hopefully it will happen because there is so much potential for it. It’s an incredible game. It’s my favorite game.”
Jordan Robert-Vogts, of Kong: Skull Island fame, is directing. He had cast Isaac for the role of Solid Snake after he himself had a conversation with IGN had expressed an interest in it.
There is no release date, nor does it sound like filming will start anytime soon. Since the game is notoriously complex material, scripting a two- to two-and-a-half hour movie seems to be quite a challenge.
In general, you can see a trend in Hollywood: In recent years, more and more adaptations from video games, such as the Sonic the Hedgehog films and Uncharted, have come to the screen. Other projects, such as an implementation for The Last of Us, are in the process of being implemented.
Oscar Isaac’s comments give reason to hope that Metal Gear Solid’s performance is still to come.
