Discord is set to officially hit the PlayStation – and new rumors are now bringing a release period for this into play.
A new report from Insider Gaming brings in a release date for the long-awaited Discord integration on the PlayStation. Accordingly, the service with version 7.00 should open on both PS4 and PS5. According to the said report, that will happen on March 8, 2023.
Discord has been around on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S for some time now, but Microsoft consoles have recently added voice chat functionality. With cross-play becoming more important these days, PlayStation players are finally craving the popular service on their consoles to keep in touch and communicate with friends.
keeps Insider Gaming right, then it will be ready at the beginning of March next year. The magazine refers to an anonymous source who nodded the release date to that extent. The Discord mobile app had recently received an update and from now on showed the new option “join voice chat on PS5”. Sony CEO Jim Ryan previously confirmed in a blog post earlier this year that PlayStation integration is on the way. But one question has remained unanswered since then: When is the time now? In any case, according to the source, it will take until the mentioned date in the coming year.
Since the whole topic was also taken up by the reliable insider Tom Henderson, the date should be quite resilient; without an official announcement, however, there is of course a residual risk that it could not happen that way.
