A standalone multiplayer game for Assassin’s Creed is in the works, codenamed Invictus. Former For Honor developers are part of the team.
As per Ubisoft’s annual report, former For Honor employees are working on an Assassin’s Creed standalone multiplayer codenamed Invictus.
Invictus will be part of Assassin’s Creed Infinity. Ubisoft is designing Infinity as a platform that will connect future Assassin’s Creed games in a cohesive network.
“At its core, Assassin’s Creed Infinity will be a gateway to all Assassin’s Creed experiences, with the metastory running asynchronously,” as Ubisoft puts it. It continues: “Additionally, a team including For Honor veterans is currently working to bring multiplayer back to Assassin’s Creed with a standalone experience via Infinity under the project Codename Invictus.”
It is still unknown which setting of Assassin’s Creed Invictus can be expected, first of all the release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage is due in the 2023 franchise.
