We cannot say that we are surprised, but this information which has just been revealed in Bloomberg the famous Jason Schreier, concerning Eidos Interactive. Perhaps most important is the closure of what we knew as Square Enix Montreal, rebranded only 3 weeks ago as “Onoma”, the creators of Hitman Go, but in this report we also learned a juicy collaboration between the studio and PlayGround Games to create the new Fables.
Of course, this is very good news, since we are talking about a legendary studio behind such important franchises as Deus Ex, Tomb Raider or Soul Reaver, but contrary to what is happening with Crystal Dynamics and its help in the development of the new Perfect Dark, Microsoft preferred not to reveal this collaboration for the moment.
Onoma was part of the acquisition which saw Embracer take control of Eidos and the Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and Legacy of Kain franchises. The company informed staff during a meeting at 2 p.m. ET today that Onoma is shutting down as the company pivots to focus solely on PCs and consoles.

Eidos Interactive can bring a lot to the new Fable
The hands and good work of Playground Games with the new Fable is beyond doubt, as there are also former members of the late Lionhead, original creator of the franchise. There are no more additional data, although it often happens that when these reports come to light, some of the interested parties confirm this work, which, on the other hand, should not be a mystery.
Finally, let’s remember that Eidos Interactive and Crystal Dynamics are already part of the Embracer group (which we colloquially call THQ), so their current jobs have nothing to do with Square Enix, even confirming this Schreier report that a new Deus Ex is already in development.
