The planned film adaptation of Gran Turismo seems to be progressing. After previously confirming stars from “Stranger Things” and “The Lord of the Rings” for the project, a member of the Spice Girls is now joining the cast.
Who is old enough to know the Spice Girls anymore? If you consider yourself to be in this semester, then Geri Halliwell, who has since married and has the double name Halliwell-Horner, is certainly familiar to you. The former member of the Girl Band has now found a new role and will be part of the cast of the racing game adaptation Gran Turismo.
Halliwell-Horner herself confirmed the news via her own Instagram account. The former musician is now also celebrating the 25th anniversary of her acting career, which began in 1997 with the musical comedy “Spice World”. In the period that followed, she appeared in several TV shows, including “Sex and the City” and “Crank: High Voltage”. Lately it has been quiet about appearances in front of the film and TV cameras for Ginger Spice – but now it’s making a comeback!
In addition to Halliwell-Horner, Djimon Hounsou, another actor for the film, which is scheduled to hit theaters in August 2023, has been confirmed as a new cast member. You know him from “A Quiet Place – Part II”, but before that he was also seen in “Elephant White”, “Blood Diamond” or “Guardians of the Galaxy”.
It has previously been confirmed that Stranger Things’ David Harbour, Lord of the Rings’ Orlando Bloom, Archie Madekwe, Joshua Stradowski, Daniel Puig and Thomas Kretschmann will star in the film. The actual production has been running for a while now; the shooting will take place in Hungary. Neill Blomkamp, who made a name for himself with “Elysium” and “District 9”, will act as director.
