Kirby and the Forgotten Land is reportedly the best-selling game in the Kirby franchise

As the folks at VGC first noticed, it’s clear that Kirby and the Forgotten Land is now likely to be the best-selling game in the entire franchise.

Check out the overview trailer for Kirby and the Forgotten Land here.

Judging from Nintendo’s performance in the first six months of this fiscal year, many Switch games have sold more than 1 million copies. This includes, but is not limited to, Splatoon 3 selling 7.9 million units, Nintendo Switch Sports selling 6.15 million units, and Mario Strikers: Battle League even getting 2.17 million units.

That includes Kirby and Forgotten Land, which sold a whopping 2.61 million units during this period of the fiscal year. This means that overall, Forgotten Land’s total sales are at an impressive level 5.27 million.

Now widely considered the original Kirby game for the Game Boy, Kirby Dreams is the best-selling Kirby game of all time. According to CESA (Computer Entertainment Suppliers Association), Kirby’s Dream Land is said to have sold 5.13 million units.

If CESA’s numbers are correct, this would make Kirby and Forgotten a new record for the Kirby series at 5.27 million units. This is very exciting news for both Nintendo and HAL Labs, considering (in my humble opinion) it feels like the Kirby franchise has been dying in the water for a while. Let’s also not forget how long and complex the road to Kirby and the Forgotten Land was, so for all the hard work that went into making the 3D pink puffball, it’s certainly a helpful statistic.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land, which editor-in-chief Tom Orry hailed a 4/5 in his review, is pink poyo’s first full 3D adventure. Not only is this a great feat for the HA and Kirby series, but the game is also a lot of fun. It’s safe to say that Kirby’s future is bright…and pink.
