Season 3 Battlefield 2042 Just a few weeks later, the game will be available to EA Access subscribers on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate from the start.
Season 3 brings new Assault Specialists, Battle Pass, new hardware, new events, experiences, and more, as well as more content for Battlefield Portal, as well as more improvements, fixes, and quality of life enhancements with each update.
The rework of Manifest and Breakaway and the return of the course are in preparation.
New Vault weapons will include Bad Company 2’s LMG pool XM8, and Battlefield 3’s A-91. More Vault weapons will arrive in further updates this season.
The Expert Rework will appear in early 2023, the second half of Season 3, along with Update 3.2. As classes are reintroduced into the game, experts will define characters, giving them access to a specialized set of gadgets and equipment that best suits their purpose on the battlefield.
Both players and DICE tested the changes “extensively”.
You can also expect the following weapon proficiencies that DICE currently has: Assault – Assault Rifle Proficiency; Assault Rifles can fire faster after sprinting; Engineer – Utility Ability; Utility Weapons have improved reloading; Support – LMG Proficiency; LMGs have extra magazines, which are more efficient when deploying bipods; and Scout – Sniper Rifle Proficiency.
The team also switched the Irishman to a support role and Crawford to the engineer. As such, the Irishman will take Crawford’s current trait, resurrecting downed teammates with extra gadget ammo, and is developing a new trait for Crawford that will allow him to better specialize in Engineers.
DICE is also working on how Rao fits into the new system and is improving team and squad communication around the specialist so that he will work as a “powerful asset” for the Scouting squad.
Manifest is getting revamped in Update 3.1, while Breakaway’s overhaul will arrive in Update 3.2 in early 2023.
Map improvements will continue over the next year, and the studio has already started pre-production for all new content beyond Season 4.
In the meantime, if you haven’t messed up your boots, there’s a free-access period on all platforms in December.
Steam and Xbox users can get a limited trial from December 1-5 and December 1-4, respectively. PlayStation users can participate in the trial from December 16-23.
