Kevin Conroy (Batman Arkham) is dead

Diane Pershing, the voice of Dr. Pamela Lillian Isley, aka Poison Ivy in Batman: The Animated Series, and the Peter Mayhew Foundation have announced the death of Kevin Conroy at the age of 66.

Justifiably considered a legend, he masterfully played the Dark Knight on several occasions. He was actually THE best Batman since he was the voice of Batou Batman The Animated Seriesthe TV program that has shaped an entire generation and will remain a cult forever.

Mark Hamill, the equally iconic voice of The Joker, spoke about this disappearance.

Kevin was a brilliant actor. For several generations he was the ultimate Batman. It was one of those perfect scenarios where they found the right man for the right role and the world was a better place for it. Its rhythms and subtleties, its tones and flow – all of these contributed to my performance as well. He was the perfect partner. It was such a complementary and creative experience. I wouldn’t have made it without him. He will always be my Batman.

Very sad news: Our beloved Batman voice, Kevin Conroy, passed away yesterday. He had been ill for some time but he was very involved in the games to the delight of all his fans. He will be sorely missed not only by the cast of the show but also by his legion of fans around the world. Below are photos of Kevin with Loren Lester playing Robin, another with me and Tara Strong who stars in the latest episodes of the Batman cartoons. And finally a photo of Kevin and I in front of the huge audience we used to have at our panels. RIP my friend.
