Perhaps DMZ will have to compete with more demanding formats than classic Battle Royale. Maybe some players had more Hardcore hoped in the shooter. Or is everything completely different than expected in the end?
Anyway, so far players have been rather mediocre impressed by what they’ve seen and heard from the new Warzone 2 DMZ mode. You can see for yourself in the DMZ gameplay overview.
For Dimi, too, the most important questions remain unanswered:
CoD Modern Warfare 2 – DMZ
The most important question remains open
No competition for Tarkov and Co.?
Honestly, I too drew the comparison to Escape from Tarkov and Hunt Showdown. After all, classification is my job and the parallels are obvious. Both are raid shooters, both have high risk, if you want to survive you have to leave the map alive, and so on.
But maybe the comparisons helped give some players false expectations. Now DMZ is being criticized for not being like Tarkov and Co. at all. However, the criticism does not only refer to that, that would be too short-sighted.
In between, you read again and again that DMZ looks like a copy of Warzone without much effort. One reads that the day-bright Al-Mazrah map lacks the atmosphere for a proper extraction shooter. Reddit tried a classic meme to poke fun at a lack of (previously known) content:

But even experts who were able to play themselves have various question marks in their eyes. For example streamer Jgod, who still hasn’t figured out why you should play DMZ at all. So far, this has not been explained really well by the developers.

Most questions do not remain unanswered for too long. DMZ will appear with the release of Warzone 2 on November 16, 2022 and will also be playable for free.
