Battlefield 2042 is still struggling. The predecessors of the shooter at times clearly outperformed its player numbers, such as Battlefield 1 recently. But DICE apparently wants to continue to provide updates, improvements and new content, such as a new developer video together blog entry indicates. We’ll summarize what’s in there for you. Game Pass Release
Unexpectedly, it was announced that Battlefield 2042 will be available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play subscribers at the start of Season 3, which is expected to be in late November 2022. Here the hope is probably in the foreground to be able to recruit new people interested in the shooter. They’re just going back, just about 4,000 players are currently online at the same time every day
More information about classes
The division of Specialists into classes, as you see them above, was already known. However, as has now been newly announced, the developers have decided, after extensive testing, to introduce another element: weapon skills. While the introduction of classes is not intended to limit access to weapon classes, it does provide certain weapons with a perk for that class:
- Assault: Assault Rifles prime faster after sprinting.
- Pioneer: Universal weapons have improved loading behavior
- Support Soldiers: Light machine guns have extra magazines and are more efficient when paired with bipods.
- Spotter: Can hold their breath longer with sniper rifles while aiming better.
The introduction of the classes is planned for the 3.2 update during Season 3. This should appear in early 2023. You can read more about the planned changes here:

More plans for Season 3
Season 3 will only be revealed with all the details later, but there is already initial information about what to expect:
- New Vault Weapons: At the beginning of Season 3, the weapon selection will be expanded to include a light machine gun and an assault rifle from Battlefield Portal. More Vault weapons will appear throughout the season.
- New card: It’s no secret that Season 3 will release a new map. But the developers indicate in the video that this time it should go to Sweden. As the well-known dataminer Temporyal claims to have found out, the card is supposed to

What’s next?
While the plans for a third and fourth season have been known for some time, it has not yet been clear what will happen next for Battlefield 2042. Now the developers are announcing that they will also release the shooter want to continue supporting with new content:
We are also pleased to announce that pre-production of new content that will be released next year after Season 4 has begun. We’re far from done with Battlefield 2042.
Exactly what content is planned is not yet explained in more detail here. Since pre-production has already begun, it seems that the updates will be more complex. We may get at least another multi-season year.
