The recently announced The Witcher Remake already raises many questions. One of them concerns Geralt himself and his voice. The Witcher actor spoke on the subject.
The Witcher license never stops making headlines. Between the departure of Henry Cavill for the Netflix series, the arrival of the PS5 and Xbox series versions for The Witcher 3, and some information about the fourth work, we no longer know where to turn. Now it’s The Witcher Remake’s turn to talk about the possibility of a major change from the original.
Another Geralt for The Witcher Remake too?
Powered by Wild Hunt in 2015, The Witcher license has attracted over 60 million players over its lifetime. However, many did not experience Geralt’s first adventures in video games. To ride the franchise’s exponential success, CD Projekt RED has announced the development of The Witcher Remake, entrusted to Fool’s Theory. A still mysterious project that will therefore allow us to discover the origin of the video game adaptation on Unreal Engine 5. If we still know very little about it, fans fear that the game will make a big change from the original title.
Asked by Eurogamer Via The Witcher Remake, Geralt de Riv’s English voice actor was keen on the idea of reprising the role he’s played for three works to include new lines of dialogue. However, CD Projekt RED has not yet contacted him. ” I don’t know if they will ask me to re-record the dialogue and I don’t know if they will use the Witcher 1 dialogue as is. I do not know. I’d be right there if the phone ever rang. But right now I know as much about it as you do.
Scenario changes to be expected?
For the actor, the transition under Unreal Engine 5 will mean many changes. While some fans were quick to fear that Geralt would be replaced overnight, there’s little chance of that happening. In fact, most gamers have debuted The Witcher 3 and become familiar with the game’s cast, so it seems unlikely that the Polish studio will settle on a major replacement.
For its part, CD Projekt RED informed our colleagues that it was still too early to answer this question. The Witcher remake is in fact only in the early stages of its development and the technology of Epic Games’ new engine could allow the teams to go even further. It is therefore not excluded that new quests or changes to the scenario will be made. In other words, the game might require some writing or even rewriting, and the actor might not be contacted until the studio has clarified that point. Be continued…
