Notifications are the fundamental element for know what is happening in our virtual environment. Being able to receive them on time, see them easily and not let them pile up or overtake us is the most important thing. And in this context there is a small adjustment that can make the difference.
More, in fact, if we are talking about an iPhone 14 Pro or Pro Max with the always-on screen in which we can view notifications without having to touch the screen at any time. A parameter that we only have to activate for certain applications, yes. We are talking, of course, about the option of grouping notifications.
More visibility for certain applications
By default, our iPhone groups notifications by applications. This means that if we receive 5 messages, three emails and two notifications from Uber, we will only see three small bubbles on the screen. Through this mechanism, we can see more on-screen notificationsbut among the applications that usually send us several, we see less detail.
At any time we can touch a notification group to expand it and see all its contents, but we can go further. If it can be really useful for some applications to group their different notifications under the same space, in others, especially the messenger ones, maybe we all want to see them individually. Fortunately, this is something we can easily change. We do like this:
- We open the application settings on our iPhone.
- We touch the application that interests us, for example Messages.
- we play in group notifications.
- we select Nope.
That’s all. Thanks to these steps we avoid the situation in which we hear a ping having the iPhone on the table with the screen always on or illuminated by the notification and we see how someone talks to us through messages without the possibility of reading in real time what it tells us.
Recalling that iOS 16 changes the way notifications are displayed and how we can see them again as in iOS 15 and that the subject of notifications is very personal and everyone will have their preferences, being able to see that we have 7 Message notifications as well highlights them before others and prevents them from being neglected easier.
Yes, it is true that we will find the red dot in the application itself, but in some cases we may prefer that some very specific application notifications attract our attention with their presence on the screen. An adjustment which, fortunately, we can modify according to what we prefer a more compact design with a touch in between or something maybe a bit more visual.
