The fans who bought it Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One will receive the Xbox Series X upgrade for free when it's ready. The announcement was made this morning by CD Projekt Red on Twitter.
"Gamers should not be forced to buy the same game twice or pay for upgrades," CD Projekt said. Owners of Xbox One Xbox Cyberpunk2077 will receive free Xbox Series X upgrades when available.
It also links to the announcement Microsoft made this morning to highlight the company's Smart Delivery announcement. The new technology doubles the console's history of backwards compatibility by allowing fans to access "four generations" of games across its consoles.
"This technology gives you the ability to buy a game and know that – whether you play it on Xbox One or Xbox Series X – you find the right kind of game for anything that plays on the Xbox," Microsoft said. It is committed to implementing this feature for all of its Xbox Game Studios titles, and has opened up the opportunity to participate with other developers. CD Projekt is in the midst of announcing that it will participate.
It is noteworthy that this is the first time that CD Projekt has announced its version Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox Series X. What, if any, technical improvements or functionality that version will install is still unknown. However, Microsoft says that Smart Delivery will help ensure that consumers always find the “best available version” no matter what they choose to play. The fans have already responded, with many thanks to CD Projekt and Microsoft both for making their decision to enter the next generation of console much easier.
The new Xbox is out for the holiday. Pricing details have not been released.
