Garfield’s universe enters the realm of mini-games.
The distributor Microids reached an agreement some time ago to release several video games based on the Garfield license. They started with Garfield Kart Furious Racing and now they have continued with their second game Garfield Lasagna Party from the French studio Balio Studio.

Mario Party Meets Garfield
If Garfield Kart Furious Racing was Garfield’s version of Mario Kart, then Garfield Lasagna Party would be the Garfield version of Mario Party. This game consists of 32 mini-games which can be played with up to four players locally, but unfortunately there is no online play. There are three modes present in this game, the main one being board game mode, in which you will move around while playing mini-games. The other two are the challenge modein which you can only play minigames against other players, and the Competition modein which you can choose a number of mini-games to see who wins the championship.
The main mode is where I spent the most time, because the goal is to move around the board and get all the lasagna possible along the way. Each player has their turn to roll the dice and move their character through the spaces, and depending on what lands different things can happen. a sin mario party, there are items you can use to help yourself or hurt your opponent. a sin mario partyafter everyone has had their turn, one of the 32 mini-games to see who can win the most lasagna with it. These minigames run smoothly for the most part and, like Mario Party, some are funnier than others. In one of them you have to roll on snowballs on an icy platform to try to knock down the other players, in another you have to try to play musical notes and in another you have to draw the along a line with as few mistakes as possible.
Only one board and no content to unlock
So, while there are plenty of (and quite fun) mini-games, the main problem of the game is the serious lack of content. One of the things people always complain about at Mario Parties is that there are never enough boards available. Well, this game drags this problem, already that there is only one board to play. Not only is there only one board, but there is also nothing to unlock in this game. You have four playable characters who are Garfield, Odie, Arlene and Nermal and that’s all. They could have added an unlockable character from the Garfield universe to make things more interesting. With a single board, three modes, no online support, and four characters, that seems like a very small amount, especially for the price.
Graphically the game looks good for a Garfield game and there is a good variety of locations while playing the minigames. The sound section goes completely unnoticed, as there aren’t a lot of sound effects, nor English or Spanish dubbing and the music is acceptable. The title is fully adapted to Spanish.
conclusion
Garfield Lasagna Party is a clone of Mario Party with some fun mini-games, but in the end, it lacks enough content to merit being considered a great mini-game title. Perhaps more aimed at an audience of children, this Garfield Lasagna Party could become a slightly more recommendable title.
