Bad news for those looking to avoid hardware-enhanced players in Warzone 2. Cronus Zen – which allows owners to modify their equipment to provide an unfair advantage – appears to be active in Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 2.
A YouTuber named Lethal Panda has uploaded several videos on Cronus Zen, one of which shows how to set up a “soft aiming robot” for Warzone 2 by using Cronus Zen to counteract weapon recoil.
For those who don’t know, hardware like Cronus Zen has been a thorn in the side of fair online players in Warzone (and many other FPS games). It allows you to change the input to the controller of your choice via scripts that change the way everything behaves in the game, the most obvious of which is recoil.
While the old Cronus model was only available through the PS4 version of the console, Cronus Zen is available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. So, even as we enter this new era of Warzone, those who spend extra cash on some illicit hardware are still able to gain an advantage over others. Just like a few years ago.
This is obviously bad. Raven Software and the wider Call of Duty development team have worked hard to fend off the hack, but the persistence of hardware workarounds has kept the problem from ever really going away.
Whether companies will (or even can) fight these products, or if they’re out of control, remains to be seen. Just keep an eye out for gross behavior.
