We look back to the past to rediscover the first concepts of iPad.
There’s a lot of talk these days about the possibility of Apple venturing to market a hybrid device between iPad and Mac with some kind of combination between iPadOS and macOS.
While of Apple, they deny that they intend to develop a device as suchthe latest technological additions to the most recent iPad models –Smart Connector, trackpad, mouse…– suggest that a tablet with the macOS operating system would be more than possible.
After the launch of the original iPhone, all the media seemed to agree that the name of Apple’s first tablet would be “iTablet”. I had logic. If a phone (Phone) was marketed under the name “iPhone”, why couldn’t a tablet be launched under the name “iTablet”?
iTablet, an iPad concept before the birth of the tablet
Before Apple revolutionized the world of technology with the presentation of the first tablet in history, many rumors circulated around what would be the birth of the iPad.
In fact, even some developers, designers and artists were encouraged to create their own iPad concepts using all the bitten apple signature logo tablet rumors that were circulating the net at that time.
Today we are recovering one of these iPad concepts that appeared on the Internet before the Original iPad released in March 2011. It’s a concept device called “iTablet” that combines the operating system of the Mac with the portability and touchscreen advantages of an iPad.
The concept in question speaks to us of an iTablet with 1 GHz PowerPC G4, 300 MHz Bus and 60 GB HD. It would also incorporate a CD player and a memory of 512 MB, in addition to a style and a touch screen.
We will probably never know if a device hybrid between macOS and iPadOS how it would ultimately succeed in today’s market. As we mentioned earlier, Apple does not seem very convinced to develop such a terminal since they already offer a wide range of alternatives in their iPad and Mac product lines.
Either way, it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve come across some rumors about the possible launch of an iPad running the macOS operating system. Without going any further, a few months ago initiated known as “Majin Bu” leaked that Apple would be working on a smaller version of macOS exclusively for an iPad Pro with M2 chip, but that could just be an internal test.
According to my source, Apple is testing a smaller version of macOS exclusively for the new iPad Pro M2!
“Mendocino” should be the code name for macOS 14. A simplified version should be planned for the M2. pic.twitter.com/f4RrainlZ1—Majin Bu (@MajinBuOfficial) October 20, 2022
This simplified version of the evaluation software is codenamed “Mendocino” and it would be based on macOS 14. What do you think of a possible arrival of an iPad with macOS on the market?
