The news came just days after Blizzard announced that it would relocate matches originally scheduled for Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hangzhou to South Korea. Fearing a corona virus outbreak, in late January, Blizzard cancelled five Overwatch League games in China.
The outbreak has affected many events throughout the video game industry this year, including the cancellation of the Taipei Game Show originally scheduled for February to disrupt China's manufacturing business. The fee is expected to reach Nintendo's Switch supply as early as April.
Sony also decided to withdraw from GDC in March this year due to concerns over the epidemic, which is the same reason why Sony also decided to skip PAX East this month.
