As every year, the latest NHL from Electronic Arts has been available since October. About a month later, the developers are now delivering an important feature: cross-play!
What was unthinkable a few years ago is now becoming a reality: cross-console games with and against each other, regardless of which platform you are actually on. In NHL 23, for example, PlayStation gamers no longer have to compete exclusively against other gamers on the Sony console, but can also compete with Xbox players.
Reason: EA is now providing an appropriate matchmaking update for NHL 23, which is now live. This enables cross-platform play and further refines the gameplay experience.
Among fans, the cross-play feature was one of the most anticipated features for the game ever. This lets you compete against other gamers of the respective console generation. PS4 and Xbox One gamers play against each other as well as PS5 and XSX gamers. Gameplay between PS5 and Xbox One, for example, is excluded in this respect.
This is intended to reduce waiting times in Hockey Ultimate Team and World of Chel by increasing the player pool itself. Today’s launch is still limited to a few game modes, but that’s set to change in the coming days. Then the other HUT and WOC modes will also be activated for this.
More information on the release of the update and how cross-platform matchmaking is designed to create a stronger gameplay experience together can be found on the latest blog or in the FAQ to find.
