The vast majority of people who use Twitter on their iPhone do so through the official client, but that’s not the only option. Apps like Tweetbot are, although they don’t have all the native options of the service, excellent alternatives with an ad-free and more organized interface.
And now that Mastodon is profiting from the mayhem Elon Musk is causing on Twitter, the Tapbots have decided to seize the moment and confirm that they create a client for iOS with which to use Mastodon. Her name: Ivory.
Every social network deserves a good client for iPhone
It’s no coincidence that Ivory has its official profile on Mastodon and not on Twitter, demonstrating that the Tapbots have made some commitment to this decentralized platform. Its developers comment that they can take advantage of Tweetbot’s source code to work on this new client, thanks to the similarities that Mastodon has with Twitter.
There is currently a version alpha from Ivory accessible only to a closed group of people, but MacRumors was able to take a look and in their screenshots we see an application very similar to Tweetbot:
There is no definitive release date for Ivory, and Tapbots is already warning that it will be some time before that happens. But we are left with the good news that Mastodon might have one of the best apps on iPhone to be able to use your instances. And that alone might encourage more people to sign up.
Based on its other apps, Ivory will most likely require a paid subscription to use all of its features. Hope we can use it for free even if it is limited.
