Blood Bowl is known to be entering its third round next year. But not everything is over with the release of the full version, because the makers have now also communicated corresponding post-launch plans.
Together with NACON, developer Cyanide confirmed today that the release of further content is firmly planned after the actual release of Blood Bowl 3. In the period that follows, you can expect new rules and functions from the last version of the board game, which means that Blood Bowl also has a season system for the first time. This format aims to encourage competitive play; there will also be a Battle Pass as part of this.
Blood Bowl 3 is scheduled to be released on February 23, 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, and later for the switch. The makers have prepared extensively for this with numerous beta test phases in which the feedback from the community was comprehensively evaluated.
The launch version of the game will then initially contain 12 factions, four more than in Blood Bowl 2. Every three months there will then be a new season, with each edition containing a new faction and also a new Blood Pass. The latter consists of 50 ranks that you can reach in the course of the season games and thus unlock free rewards. These will serve to customize your team. Among other things, you can expect new accessories, balls and dice. The highest level of the Blood Pass unlocks the new faction of the respective season.
As you are used to from such systems, there will also be a paid version of the Blood Pass. When purchased, the new faction is immediately playable and unlocks a reward for each of the 50 stages completed.
A leaderboard is available as part of the competitive mode. In ranked matches, you compete against each other at the same level and are continuously challenged by trainers with more experience. The tournaments and the league system should be a crowd puller of the new part.
