Gaming News PS5: A long-awaited feature of the PlayStation Plus Premium, finally available for certain games!
A few months after the implementation of PlayStation Plus Premium, the most complete subscription to the service of the same name, Sony has listened to gamers and integrated a long-awaited feature! Now you can enjoy some of the great PS1 classics on the same terms as American and Japanese players!
If the debate between displaying in 50Hz and 60Hz on modern consoles is gone, there was a time when every European release was scrutinized in the hope of not having a version at a discount. For a long time, Europe had to be content with 50Hz games, which had the characteristics of being slower and sometimes more crushed than their American and Japanese counterparts. From time to time we got some good surprises by taking advantage of an optimized 50Hz display that mimicked the 60Hz display, but it wasn’t the habit of publishers. Finally, the advent of Dreamcast was a small revolution in the sense that its titles allowed, for the vast majority, to choose between the two types of display. Because it also depended on your TV, some accepting 60Hz, others not.
PS1 games finally in 60Hz on PS5?
When Sony launched its PlayStation Plus Premium and gave access to PS1 games, purists were disappointed because those titles ran at 50Hz in Europe. Well, as of Friday, Ape Escape and Siphon Filter have an option that allows you to switch to the 60Hz setting for an experience worthy of Japanese standards! Specifically, the two titles benefit from faster animation, full-screen display and that changes a lot of things in anticipation. For now, these are the two games that benefit from this improvement (except for Jumping Flash and its optimized 50Hz, and Tekken 2, Mr. Driller and Oddworld: Abe’s Odyssey, which are in the American version).
It is not yet known if other titles will benefit from these optimizations, but it is hoped that Sony’s intentions, which previously stated that they want to do this for a majority of the games, will be followed by facts. Ape Escape and Siphon Filter are going in that direction, that’s good news!
