Scaramouche lets go of his former self.

I’m a proud Scaramouche hater. When he was first introduced, I couldn’t stand his obnoxious taunts, his odd coat-and-shorts combo, or his awkward bowl cut. I’ve since come to terms with his now more compelling backstory, but there are fans out there who have been waiting for this villain to be playable since he first came out in November 2020. Two years later they are forever rewarded for having moved on. Even as Scaramouche’s most committed anti, I have to admire her loyalty.

Scaramouche (or “The Wanderer”) will be playable as an Anemo Catalyst character once his banner begins on December 6th. Players who want him must face tremendous odds by rolling gacha for him. Remember – all characters will return at some point in the rotation. So if you miss him before his banner ends on December 26th, just patiently wait for him to return.

The Wanderer was first introduced as a villain in the Unreconciled Stars event, but that’s not why we started so badly on the wrong foot. His fellow officer childe was extremely cool even though I was planning on destroying my favorite city in the game. Even Dottore had a strong gravitas about him. But Scaramouche? He clearly had some kind of trauma, but he continued to act so hard about it. Every other word out of his mouth was an insult, and we had to constantly check his backstory Miscellaneous Characters. His entire appearance in the game was built around him being incredibly difficult for players to love (though not for him). unbelievable vociferous fan base).

Which fits perfectly with his in-game backstory. Scaramouche was originally the first puppet prototype for a warrior godwho he regarded as a mother. Raiden Ei wanted to set him free, but Scaramouche believed she had abandoned him. After that, two of his friends died of other causes. He got so angry about this that he joined a malicious group and eventually tried to become an artificial god. So he’s definitely not the easiest character to love, even from a fan perspective.

And his compelling family trauma is just a relatively recent phenomenon from the last year. Many players were delighted with his character design or masochistically enjoyed when the character insulted them. After his debut event, players didn’t see him until the Inazuma main quest. He stole a divine power from his mother and then disappeared. We saw him in a flashback this spring, but he was particularly rare up until the fall – we didn’t even figure out what kind of playable character he was until the leaks a few months ago. But now the fans are finally celebrating.

The Scaramouche theoretical community still debating whether most of his damage comes from DPS like Xiao or from swirl reactions like Sucrose (which combines various elements with wind). Depending on who he’s “destined” for, Scaramouche could have wildly different ideal team compositions. We won’t know for sure until it’s available tomorrow.

I’m skipping it in anticipation of the Alhaitham banner, but I wish all the Scaramouche math nerds out there the best.
