Last night’s Game Awards was one of them the biggest shows of the annual event to date. With a flood of surprise performances, awards, excellent speechesgame revealed and other oddities, it was easy to lose track. But if you’re a fan of anime MMOs and you find the idea of a sci-fi fantasy adventure centered on rebuilding the future after an apocalypse appealing, then Bandai Namco and Amazon Games might have something pretty cool for you in stock. It’s called Blue log, and it will ship as a free-to-play title on PC, PS5 and Xbox series consoles next year. Oh, and you can Sign up for a free closed beta expected in the near future.
Blue log was originally announced back in 2019. And while what we saw in last night’s trailer for the anime MMO was pretty fresh, fans have been checking out the game before about server testsand there has been some speculation and discussion about it over the years the game’s unofficial subreddit. Otherwise, however, it was a bit elusive as some were concerned about the game’s development given the lack of updates. But last night’s trailer at the Game Awards showed that development is very active and the game will be out next year. It also revealed that Amazon Games previously published Lost Ark and New world, will serve as editor. Check out last night’s trailer here:
I mean, come on, that looks damn cool. And there’s a lot of potential in its premise, which executive producer Sokichi Shimmoka details as “a project that will take players on a heroic journey through a planet teetering on the brink of destruction after millennia of conflict and overuse of technology.” to gameplay, which offers five different classes to choose from, an “action-based combat system” and nice-looking summons called “echoes”, are presented on the game’s official website.
While many will likely be delighted to see new footage of this game, this is perhaps one of the more surprising twists Amazon Games will publish the MMO. in the a statement about it The edgeAmazon’s Vice President of Games, Cristoph Hartmann, spoke about the experience of working with the team behind it Lost Ark previously, emphasizing that the lessons learned from this game carry over to the publisher’s support Blue log. And based on statements by Hartmann as well as Shimmoka, Blue log could have some broader IP plans with potential “transmedia opportunities”.
With a nice mix of sci-fi and fantasy aesthetics, and a focus on bringing some hope and positivity to a doomed world, it’s great to see more post-apocalyptic stories that are all about searching for something meaningful to strive. The post-apocalypse is far too often a narrative space for doom and gloom, without much meaningful reflection. let’s hope Blue log that changes something.
