In recent weeks, a problem has been making the rounds of the network, perhaps not excessively widespread, but annoying enough that some players cannot use their Xbox 360 profile or play backward compatible games as this needs to be connected to Xbox Live servers.
This failure is unknown even to Microsoft itself, which for the moment has not commented on it, neither to recognize it nor to deny it. Like I said, the affected player base isn’t huge, but it’s worth looking into in case it happens to you.
Change your Xbox One or Xbox Series DNS
From Reddit, user ChilledSloth97 provided us with what may be a solution. It may not be the definitive one, but in some cases it works, which is already less than nothing. This is to clean up the DNS and use Cloudflare’s public DNS.
The steps to follow are not complex, You will need to enter your Xbox Series or Xbox One settings and enter the steps. Of course, you can also do this on your old Xbox 360 if you’re having trouble there. I leave you the checklist to make this change.
- Go to Network Settings.
- advanced settings
- Manual DNS configuration.
- In the first IPV4 field, you put these DNS: 1.1.1.1.
- In the second entry, use these: 1.0.0.1.
- Then choose the alternate port selection and use the one at the bottom of the list.
Of course, as I said before, it’s not the holy grail, but it seems that in some cases it works. If you’ve tried this method before, let us know in the comments what your experience was. We want to read you.
