If Dead Island is known for one thing, it’s the hefty level of violence. Accordingly, many fans feared whether Part 2 could be released in Germany. Now publisher Plaion gives the all-clear, the game was given an 18 release by the USK. However, it had to be trimmed a bit.
The concerns of many fans that Dead Island 2 does not appear at all or only with extreme cuts in Germany were not unjustified. The predecessor was only published in Germany years after the international release for fear of indexing. However, publisher Plaion can now give the all-clear, the successor has received the USK-18 rating. However, the scissors had to be used at one point.

Honestly, the cut doesn’t sound like you can’t take it now. The statement reads: “There is only one difference between the international and USK versions: once the zombies are defeated, players in the USK version can no longer interact with the moldy creatures.”
In other words, once you’ve finally killed the undead, you can no longer dismember the corpses. However, it is important for Plaion to emphasize that no cuts had to be made during the actual act of killing.
However, you have to be careful when playing in co-op which versions are used. It’s not like buyers of the USK version can’t go out together with international zombie hunters. However, for the duration of the session, the cuts will be applied to everyone in the lobby, which is clearly indicated to international players with a notification message.
According to current plans, Dead Island 2 will be released on April 28, 2023 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
