Hardly a week goes by without us learning anything new about Hogwarts Legacy. But the game also has a lot to show! In the last 46-minute showcase we were able to explore the eponymous school of witchcraft and magic, now we get to see the huge open world around the castle. In addition, the fights are presented in more detail and the Room of Requirement including animal care is also part of the game.
In the almost 30 minutes there was of course a lot to see, but also to overlook. To make sure you don’t miss a thing, we’re putting the Lumos light on the details we didn’t notice until we looked closely.
You c an watch the entire video right here. We also provide time markers at the various points so that you can find the desired scene as quickly as possible.

Hogwarts Legacy shows impressive open world in the big gameplay showcase
3 Open World Details
The first section of the video introduces the area surrounding Hogwarts. We noticed the following subtleties:
Those who fly low travel faster
At first glance, moving around with the broom seems quite sluggish. Harry Potter’s Nimbus 2000 is of course a lot faster, in the almost 200 years the broom technology has probably developed a good bit further.
Flying high above trees and people also drains our boost gauge very quickly. A deep broom ride, on the other hand, allows us to give full throttle permanently. The display is very easy to see at 3:25 minutes. This should create more proximity to the game world, we see exciting places much more easily and don’t just fly over them.
Anything that can fit in a bag
However, pre-orderers can also glide through the air with a hippogriff (6:50), owners of the deluxe version have access to a testral (12:10). However, the magical creatures are slower than the broom, which can be upgraded in Hogsmead. There is no boost indicator on the Hippogriff.
The financing strategy with all the exclusive content has long been questionable for Natalie:
Hogwarts Legacy
Pre-order bonuses and the deluxe edition infuriate me as a fan
The animals always seem to be with us, the main character in the video pulls Hippogriff and Testral out of a bag without any problems (6:30 and 12:06). Of course, this is very reminiscent of Hermione’s pouch from Harry Potter, in which there is infinite space for objects. Another example of this type of spell is Newt Scamander’s suitcase from the Fantastic Beasts film series.
This of course raises the question of whether we have an infinitely large inventory in the game or whether we still have to make sure we have enough space.
Icons on the minimap
A few different items can be seen on the minimap throughout the video. A few are relatively self-explanatory, while others we have guesses at:
- Feder (5:10): Possibly a purely collectible item, but probably also an ingredient in potions. The feather symbol can be found again on the beasts in the Room of Requirement.
- Green Fire (6:17): This is a fast travel point, with Floo powder we can get from A to B in Hogwarts Legacy.
- treasure chest: There must be a treasure there, you don’t need a detective for that.
- Question mark (5:10): An unexpected event, loot or something similar will probably be found there. Similar to The Witcher 3.
- Yellow icon (5:10): We suspect here the main quest to advance the story. She can also be seen at the very end of the video by the mystery book.
- Cave (7:45): This will probably be a small (or large?) underground. Who knows what’s inside? Trolls, wolves, dark wizards and witches?
- Paw (7:45): Sure, there’s an animal here. We suspect we can tame it and bring it into the Room of Requirement. The symbol can also be seen while the main character is riding the hippogriff.
3 details from the fight
In the past showcase, we were able to pick up a bit on what the combat system should look like. Now, however, Avalanche shows us a few minutes of heated combat and not just training battles. But we also got to see the character editor and Hogwarts in the last video. You can watch the video right here:

Hogwarts Legacy shows tons of new gameplay in the showcase
Unforgivable Curses are learnable
Potterheads will probably frown at that. In combat, the unforgivable killing curse Avada Kedavra is used a few times (13:56). Voldemort was only too happy to use the spell. Sure, at least he kills the enemy on the spot, even the big troll dies in the video directly (17:44). However, the deployment actually entails the death penalty – it is not unforgivable without reason. It is still unclear whether this will also have consequences for the main character in Hogwarts Legacy – but that does not seem to be the case.
Ancient magic in battle
In case you don’t remember, Hogwarts Legacy doesn’t start in Year 1, we start in Year 5. But that’s not the only special thing about us, we also have the ability to perceive and control so-called ancient magic. It is still unclear exactly what this is all about.
However, ancient magic also helps us in battle, as opponents lose glowing blue points after they die (15:12). With their help, our power meter fills up, with which we can in turn carry out certain attacks (15:47).
Potions and plants in combat
During a brawl, you can also consume useful potions to gain an advantage. For example, in minute (17:45) you increase your defensive power. But you can also use plants to your advantage. We were also able to spot a well-known plant in the wheel menu: the screaming mandrakes are all too familiar from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
3 details from the Room of Requirement
In the Room of Requirement, which Harry and his friends used as a training ground in the fifth part, you can craft your equipment. How you design the room is completely up to you. The garden is particularly interesting, where you can take care of all sorts of magical beings.
The user interface changes
Of course, there is no fighting in the Room of Requirement, which is why the key assignments at the bottom right are provided with different icons. We can exchange, color and partially resize furniture, decorations and even the entire architecture (22:45).
Similar setting options await you in the garden, but you can also feed and groom the mythical creatures (27:46). In addition, the yellow feather symbol can be seen again at the bottom right, which was already found in the open world. The suitcase icon suggests that we can pack and unpack the magical beasts at any time, just like we saw with the hippogriffs.
Known Beasts
We’ve also come across the magical animals in the Room of Requirement. The cute Niffler with his penchant for glittering objects is already known from Fantastic Beasts, as is the mighty Graphorn. The latter can also be seen as an icon for a very short time at 18:28 – interestingly enough, right next to the testral and broom. So maybe we can ride the mighty beast too.
The Mysterious Book
At the end of the video we see a small sequence that apparently belongs to the main story (33:50). In any case, the yellow symbol, which was already visible on the mini-map in the open world, indicates this.
The main character is sucked into a book, which is strongly reminiscent of the diary of Tom Riddle aka Voldemort from The Chamber of Secrets. There, Harry relived the events of that time – it’s quite possible that it has a similar function here … just hopefully it’s not a Horcrux.
A leak has already told us that we can view memories in the Pensieve:
