Happy birthday, “trash” Mac Pro.
9 years ago, Apple released a Mac Pro with a rather controversial and controversial design. The company introduced a Mac Pro model which received strong criticism from consumers who persisted for a long period of dissatisfaction with the Mac line.
In the same way that the new Mac Pro design was more recently known as the cheese grater, at the time the mac pro 2013 It’s been described as trash, for obvious reasons.
The Cupertino company tried to innovate “on an epic scale” with a curved and cylindrical design that was certainly attractive, but did not quite convince consumers. Nice try Apple!
Mac Pro: 9 years since its launch in 2013
Apple showed off its redesigned Mac Pro at WWDC in June 2013. The product would eventually hit the market later, in December of the same year. During his announcement, Phil Schiller uttered one of the most famous phrases in Apple history, with his mythical “I can’t innovate, my ass”. A sentence that, by the way, ended against him since the majority of consumers and Apple users did not expect this type of design.
The 2013 Mac Pro offered twice the performance of the previous generation while taking up significantly less space thanks to its unified thermal core. He had processors Intel Xeon and a dual AMD FirePro GPU.
From Macrumors they remembered the time indicating that curiously, 5 years after its launch, Apple has issued an apology to its users in a meeting with a small number of journalists. In it, they anticipated the arrival of a “completely redesigned” Mac Pro with a modular design, a new iMac and an external monitor.
Phil Schillerduring this meeting, apologized to Apple users in these terms:
“The current Mac Pro, as we have said many times, was thermally constrained and this limited our ability to upgrade it, so we apologize for disappointing consumers who wanted it, and we have asked the team to design something fantastic for the Mac Pro.” the future of consumers who wanted more expandability and more upgrades. You will have more of those needs.”
Products, even sometimes for no apparent reason, can end up being flops. But it’s not such a negative thing. Completely the opposite. The failure of the Mac Pro, in this case, led to the Mac Pro 2022 and the mighty performance of Apple Silicon processors.
