It was only recently confirmed that Amazon is working on a series adaptation of God of War. In an interview, the head of the television department has now explained in more detail what exactly is planned. You don’t need to expect details about the story or the actors, but you do need to expect the target groups that the studio has in mind.
God of War has grown into one of the biggest video game brands in recent years. The latest offshoot, God of War: Ragnarök, recently set a sales record for Sony. No wonder, then, that the brand should continue to be milked. And so it became one just last week Series adaptation announced by Amazon.

However, information about this is still very scarce. Actors, story details, release date – all of this is in the stars so far. At least we know that Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby are writing the scripts and the story follows the path of Kratos and Atreus. God of War Ragnarök’s game director Cory Barlog is also on board. In an interview, Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon Studios, at least digs a little deeper.
According to him, one wants to orientate oneself very strongly on the template. Of course, fans are happy about that, but according to Amazon, it does not forget those viewers who have not had any contact with the new saga before. It’s about the “story of fathers, sons and families in front of this gigantic epic landscape”, the emotional core of the story. With all the fidelity to the template, however, one will not forget that the series can stand for itself.
He goes on to say that he believes the show will be “huge”. So big words. We can’t wait to see what Amazon will do with the template.
