GOG is giving away a really good story game for a short time

game, Giving, GOG, Good, short, story, time

Do you know what the Christmas season is really good for? Play through story games! They often don’t require much time, can be mastered in a few hours and give you warm feelings, even warmer thrills and train your brain a bit so that all the Christmas sugar gets something to do. How lucky that GOG is giving away a really, really good story game: Broken Sword.

And if now, who is coming with me? Wow, that looks super old, then there’s one paddled directly with the Boomer paddle, because Baphomet’s curse has aged really well. Especially in the Director’s Cut version from 2008 – and that’s exactly what’s being given away!

What is Baphomet’s curse?

Remember the era when Indiana Jones-branded adventure stories were all the rage? No, neither do we – it was just too long ago. But Baphomet’s curse dates from this time: The American George Stobbart actually just wants to vacation in Paris when suddenly a bomb explodes in the café next to him, a dubious clown flees from the crime scene and he becomes involved in the investigation. He travels to countless locations in Europe with French journalist Nicole Collard, because the bombing is part of a conspiracy that goes back centuries.

Broken Sword is an old-school adventure (the original is from the 90s, after all). You collect clues, click through dialogues, combine objects. Rather, what makes it special is that Was than how: This story with all its quirky characters, locations and events simply sticks in your memory! We still remember the goat in the castle 20 years later.

What makes the Director’s Cut special?

Apart from small comfort improvements for modern PCs, the Director’s Cut draws above all the new prologue chapter where you, as Nico, uncover another mystery. Plays pretty cool and adds about an hour to game time.

Until when is baphomet’s curse free? And where is?

Baphomet’s curse will be until December 22, 2022 given away via GOG in the afternoon. So it’s best to click on the GOG offer on Broken Sword and put the game in your account and/or download it. The successors, some of which are very good, are also greatly reduced, for example the latest part of The Curse of Broken Glass is available for less than 5 dollars:
