Publisher Doki Doki Literature Club Has Another Visual Horror Coming Soon

Doki Doki Literature Club is one of my favorite games and one of the best free games of all time. Honestly, it’s not innovative or outstanding, but it’s one of the most memorable gaming experiences I’ve ever had.

A visual novel might seem like that – a narrative game – and nothing more. You’re a boy who joins a girls’ literary club, all of which end up being romantic interests. This would all lead you to believe that Doki Doki Literature Club is just a visual novel and dating sim, and that’s where you’d be wrong. Big mistake.

Check out the trailer for Roman Sands here: RE:Build.

Monica of the Doki Doki Literature Club

Meet Monica from Doki Doki Literature Club. You can totally trust her.

It’s gotten worse, to say the least, and that’s all I have to say. If you haven’t played Doki Doki, the less you know, the better.

Serenity Games, the publisher of Doki Doki Literature Club, has another visual horror novel. Roman Sands RE:Build is coming to Nintendo Switch and Steam in 2023, developed by Arbitrary Metric.

Players look at residents of the resort in Roman Sands RE:Build

Welcome to Sands Rome RE:Build.

Arbitrary Metric is best known for the horror game Paratopic, which was inspired by games from the PS1 and PS2 era. However, Roman Sands RE:Build employs a very different art style and color palette than the studio’s previous games. Roman Sands is decked out in neon lights and pastel colors, and players will see players wash up on the shores of the mysterious luxury resort.

The residents of this resort are not typical, they believe that one day the sun will swallow the whole world. From here, it’s up to you to uncover the secret and find your way home.

Roman Sands RE:Build is a visual novel, but it seems to be a mix of puzzles, survival mechanics, and of course horror. Needless to say, I’m excited to see what Arbitrary Metric and Serenity Games’ next endeavors are.
