Ark: Survival Evolved gets the fourth paid DLC with Genesis, but disappointed many fans.
The new Ark DLC Genesis was released on the night of February 25-26. The download was originally supposed to start at 01:00, but it actually only started at 04:30. Developer Studio Wildcard had on Twitter another shift in the short term announced.
The launch in the U.S. should take place at 6:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. The delay meant that players in the U.S. couldn’t start downloading until late in the evening.
This fact makes itself felt numerous negative comments
Update: Still no word of an apology or even a slight show of sympathy, despite @survivetheark brass up another launch. People trust you, and organize events / childcare / content / time off work, around timings YOU give. You HAVE to take responsibility and address it, not ignore it!

Criticism goes beyond being late
The delay in itself is one of the reasons for the irritated mood in the community, the content and current problems of the new expansion is another. The Steam Reviews show, for example, that players are not pleased that the new map instead of a coherent Open World consists only of individual, relatively small areas that are separated by walls. Steam user Psycho wrote in his review:
“These biomes are tiny and the barrier walls that separate them make them appear even smaller.”
Others are surprised that apparently previously developed content is not available in the new addon. This means that players cannot access TEK equipment. In addition, there seems to be a problem with flight dinosaurs, which users say can be tamed but cannot be ridden.
Our Ark expert Sascha Asendorf, who also operates his own Ark server, managed to fly the new space whale in Ark: Genesis. However, at our request, he is confused about the continuation of the Ark story in Genesis:
“If you start from the story alone and from the end of extinction, simulations shouldn’t really matter anymore. But now we are in a simulation and taking exams. Our previous achievements were not mentioned in the logs I found.”
Time must tell whether the problems are partly mistakes, the story opens in an unconventional way, or the game design is deliberately oriented in this way. Measured against the last addons from Ark: Survival Evolved, a few patches for Genesis are likely to be applied in the coming days.
