Apple markets Microsoft products

The great competition between the giants of the technology industry makes us think that they will always try to boycott each other and that they would never sell a product that was not theirs.

But in reality this is not the case. to exist marketing agreements and all kinds of partnerships among the companies in the sector through which they take advantage of it to promote all kinds of products and services.

As is the case with Apple there Microsoft. While exploring the Apple online store, we realized that, surprisingly, the company also sells products from Microsoft, one of its main rivals in the market. Undoubtedly, a clear sign of the good health of relations between Apple and Microsoft.

Microsoft and Apple, friends forever?

In the Apple Store, in the section of Mac software accessories, we can find several Microsoft Office packages –although it has its own iWork office suite– for home, for students and for business. In addition to a very expensive and powerful video editing software from the Claris brand.

Apple markets Microsoft products, wow. It’s something we didn’t expect. Now let’s see if Microsoft does the same with Apple products…

We go to their website, we use the search engine and… voila!

Microsoft also offers Apple products, although it does not market them as such…

A Microsoft representative explained to us that Microsoft does not actually sell Apple products but “offers the possibility of downloading their applications for free” such as Apple Music or Apple TV. On the other hand, he added that Apple is a distributor partner of Microsoft and, as such, has the authorization to market certain products of the company.

Apparently Microsoft and Apple must have come to some sort of trade deal with reference to this meaning, according to my personal appreciation. In fact, it was recently announced that Apple TV and Apple Music would soon be available on Windows, Microsoft’s standalone operating system.

This isn’t the first time, and certainly won’t be the last, that one tech company has teamed up with another to promote their respective products and/or services. This is also a very common practice at Apple, which lately seems to be opening up its ecosystem a little more to other platforms, as is the case with the launch of Apple TV on Android. What do you think of this case?
