Unfortunately, while Game of Thrones had dominated the space for series fans throughout its run from 2011 to 2019, it disappointed fans with a disastrous writing quality. When HBO, the network that airs the series, announced that it would be returning in 2022 with a spin-off that takes place a little less than 200 years before the events of Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen and the others, to tell viewers were quite excited.
However, it didn’t take long for House of the Dragon to establish itself as a sequel when it was released. Season 1 was less action-oriented than Game of Thrones and featured a particularly gripping storyline centered around House Targaryen and King Viserys’ estate. And if we could blame a little slowness at the beginning of the spin-off series, the latter gradually accelerated until laying the foundations for the terrible war that will be known as “Dance of the Dragons” and should begin from the beginning of season 2.
Only when Season 1 ended in a particularly frustrating cliffhanger (the details of which we won’t reveal to you in order not to spoil possible latecomers) does everything indicate that Season 2 wasn’t to be coming any time soon. In fact, if we already knew production hadn’t started yet, HBO just unveiled an additional clue indicating House of the Dragon shouldn’t be pointing the nose for the whole of 2023…
The Slow One of Dragons
Watching the new trailer for the series slated for 2023 that HBO unveiled a few days ago, we can come to this conclusion. As you can see for yourself from the video above, the American channel has compiled videos of all the series expected for 2023 on its HBO Max platform House of the Dragon is only conspicuous by its absence.
Since the video starts with an explicit “Coming in 2023“ (to be published in French in 2023), everything indicates that House of the Dragon won’t hit our TVs until 2024. Information ultimately more consistent with the rest of HBO’s communications on the production of Season 2 of the spin-off, which is only scheduled to start in a few months.
However, note that if you’re worried about not knowing what to watch while you wait for this long year, the HBO Max video seems to herald a lot of promising projects, including the highly anticipated series of The Last of Us starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. As a reminder, the latter is scheduled for January 15, 2023 on HBO Max and certainly on OCS or Amazon Prime in France.
