Steam Replay: Trailer introduces the new replay feature with a wink

Steam has apparently switched to Spotify for its new feature: The game launcher now also offers you a personal review of the year. Of course, instead of the most listened to music, Steam lists your most played titles – and everything else that goes with it. We explain what exactly you get to see and how you can easily activate the flashback. If you want to increase your library at the end of the year: The huge winter sale runs until January 5th.

This is how Steam Replay works

What is Replay? Steam collects data about your gaming habits. For example, which game you play for how long, which achievements you unlock, how many days in a row you gamble on the computer and so on. Your personal Steam review will then be created from this data (collected from January 1st to December 14th, 2022). Of course, only game times that you have spent on Steam yourself are taken into account.

How do I activate Replay? All you need is access to your Steam profile to activate Replay. On the start page you will find the category “New and noteworthy”, including the first item “Steam Review 2022”. Click on it and you will land directly on the replay page.

Here you can find the review. And yes, that's 73 games on the wishlist. Steffi is proud that it is no longer three digits.

What does looking back show me? At the top, Steam shows you a highlight block, for example with your most played titles, broken down by percentage. You can get even more data about these games if you click on them – for example, in which month you played how much and how many achievements you earned in it.

Scroll down to get to your personal statistics:

  • How many achievements have you unlocked in 2022? (The average is 21, Steam reveals.)
  • How many different games have you played? (Here it’s an average of five a year.)
  • How long was your longest streak of consecutive days you played? (The official average is nine days.)

Below that, you’ll see if you’re more likely to play newly released games or older classics. In addition, Steam paints you a chic network diagram with the genres or tags that you preferred in 2022. For editor Steffi it looks like this:

You can guess what Steffi's favorite games were (as if she doesn't keep shouting that from the rooftops).

How do I share Replay? If you want the Steam Recap just for yourself, just select Private at the top. Otherwise you can share your results with friends or with the entire internet. You can download the appropriate image format for Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Co. via the share button.
