CEO David Zaslav has clearly announced his intention to re-roll the machine, with feature films from the Harry Potter license generating a significant portion of the company’s profits over the past 25 years. A pragmatic observation that still requires obtaining the consent of author JK Rowling to develop new cinematic projects around the franchise. But while Wizarding World fans obviously don’t want Harry to disappear from their cultural landscape, it’s not about rebooting the films that have fascinated an entire generation
A very likely reboot in 3 or 5 years…
This week, however, the controversy was revived by a mysterious whistleblower known as the WDW Pro, whose remarks were leaked by the American press. In social networks, the person indicates that Warner Bros. wants to offer Discovery allegedly a complete reboot of the cinematic saga over the next 3 to 5 years with an all new cast.

Discovery earnings conference call, David Zaslav announced that he was very interested in working with JK Rowling to bring new Harry Potter film projects back to the Warner Bros. studio. We’re learning today that one of those projects could be a FULL RESTART of previous films, as the older generation will soon have “aged” and Warner may consider making new films for younger generations. How exactly this should look like is not yet known. If nothing seems decided a priori, it would obviously be more than a simple rumor, the idea being discovered by Warner Bros. It would then be a new take on the original storyline, mostly aimed at revitalizing the franchise through a rejuvenated cast.. All of this is of course to be taken with caution, but it’s better to prepare now for the idea that the faces of the Harry Potter saga may not be the ones we know forever.
