When you use the PC mainly for gaming, it is quite common that your peripherals are “video game“, not only for the RGB lighting so common in this environment, but for the fact that they are products specially designed to offer the best performance in games. Now, many users are bothered by cables getting in their way, and while this is more common with mice, what about keyboards? It’s a wireless keyboard a suitable option for those who use it almost exclusively for gaming? In this article we will talk about it.
Nobody doubts that wireless devices provide additional comfort, since the absence of cables around the table gives us much more freedom of movement (in addition to having a more presentable and tidy table), and this is particularly visible in peripherals such as mouse or headphones. However, when it comes to the keyboard, maybe it doesn’t make much sense to be wireless… or maybe it is?
Why do you want your keyboard to be wireless?
Generally, there are three main peripherals that we use on the PC when we play games: headset, mouse and keyboard. We think headphones are the device that makes the most sense to be wireless, because that way you won’t have a cable that runs from the PC to you, often running over your arms, let alone when you you get up and go. you forget you’re wearing them and you get a good jolt. Plus, the headphones aren’t that we’ve had them on all day, so with the battery life of most devices these days, we’ve got plenty of them (and when we’re not using them, we put them on charge and that’s all) ) .
As for the mouse, still from our point of view, it is the second device that makes the most sense for it to be wireless, for the simple fact that we move it around the table a lot and, sometimes, the cable can be uncomfortable for us. In addition, wireless mice generally have a much longer battery life than headphones, which means that we can use them for days without having to connect them to charge their battery.
Now the keyboard That’s a separate topic now. In general, the autonomy of these devices is also quite high, but not as much as that of mice in the case of gaming keyboards with lighting, since this significantly affects their autonomy without having to connect it to the power. Overall, even gaming models usually have the battery life to keep up w ith us for a day or two without having to charge the battery, so that’s not too much of an issue.
The thing is, normally you always have the keyboard in the same place and you don’t change its position at all…if anything, you reposition it a few inches to accommodate the posture, but that’s not It’s not the same as a headset or a mouse that we constantly move and the cable can get in the way… on a keyboard, the cable will normally never get in the way.
And here’s the thing… does it make sense to have a wireless gaming keyboard? In fact, if we consider the most that we will have to pay because it uses wireless technology (which is usually a lot), it does not rent at all compared to an equivalent model but with the cable, since as we said, we are not going to move it all the time as we do, for example, with a mouse.
Now if we are talking about a keyboard that we take with us everywhere as an addition to a laptop, or if you are one of those who constantly change places, maybe a wireless keyboard makes sense for you . But, for games? No, usually those of us who play on PC have a desktop PC that’s always in one place, and a wireless keyboard doesn’t seem to make much sense to us.
